The Vauxhall Corsa has replaced its stable mate the Astra at the head of the used car sales table for 2009, according to figures from information services company Experian.
With the Astra dropping to third place, the Ford Fiesta was in second place with the Ford Focus fourth and the Volkswagen Golf in fifth. Top 4wd was the Land Rover Freelander and top sports car the Audi TT.
Mark Nuttall, Experian’s automotive business general manager, said: ”As our analysis shows, affordable smaller vehicles have managed to appeal again to motorists, with the Corsa overtaking all the other cars to become the nation’s favourite used car.”
These were the best-selling second-hand cars in 2009, with 2008 positions in brackets:
