South Korea’s biggest car maker Hyundai has announced a recall of around 140,000 Sonata model cars in the US over steering concerns.
The Sonata is Hyundai’s best-selling model in the key US market, accounting for around 35% of sales.
Hyundai is recalling Sonata models manufactured since December 2009, following a probe into steering problems by US authorities last month.
Hyundai said the recall was a precaution and that no accidents hace been reported.
Hyundai’s recall is relatively small but car manufacturers have been swift to take action on safety issues recently, following the massive recall of 8 million Toyota cars earlier this year.
