Car production rose by more than 11% in November to 125,458 units, which is nearly double the pace witnessed in October, figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders show.
Production in the UK was up almost 30% in annual terms. Overall, vehicle production, which includes both cars and commercial vehicles, was up close to 12% to 136,594 units on a monthly basis. The increase was driven by a 21.2% rise in commercial vehicle production, which rose to 11,136 units in November.
“UK vehicle production has increased in almost every month of 2010 and is driving a manufacturing led recovery,” SMMT chief executive, Paul Everitt, said.
The figures on engine production were also positive, up 1% following a drop last month.
