Exchange and Mart 2010 top ten most searched for cars

Despite the economic downturn, aspirational cars remain prevalent in the Exchange and Mart 2010 top ten most searched for cars for the second year in a row, with the BMW 3 Series taking the crown.

This clearly reflects the high-status audience of www.exchangeandmart.co.uk, which boasts a premium demographic profile of A B and C1 of over 71% – higher than any of its competitors. 43% of its users come from households earning £50,000 or more and 55% are aged between 35 and 54.*

With this visitor profile of high earning power and a strong buying confidence, Exchange and Mart is encouraging dealers to take advantage during the spring plate change and ensure they are promoting their prestigious cars within its quality online marketplace.

The BMW 3 and 5 Series top and tail the Exchange and Mart chart and the Audi A4 slips into the top five, followed by the Audi A3 in seventh. Used car pricing expert, Mark Bulmer from Exchange and Mart’s valuations partner, CAP, says, “It’s no surprise that the BMW 3 Series is the most popular vehicle enquiry on ExchangeandMart.co.uk. This range of cars has dominated the affordable aspirational badge league for years and has evolved gradually, rather than being reinvented regularly, like other cars. It’s a quality lead-in car to a quality brand.”

Debra Healy, Digital Director for Exchange and Mart concludes, “Our Top Ten is largely unchanged from 2009 to 2010, however the Ford Mondeo has slipped out of tenth and been replaced with the Peugeot 206, which sits in ninth. The spring plate change will bring a temporary boost to the used car market, with a wide range of vehicles being offered for sale by dealers eager to maximise March and April revenues. With this in mind ExchangeandMart.co.uk offers dealers an online used car marketplace of credible buyers who have the income readily available to make their dream car a reality.”
