A little bit of “Hollywood” can work wonders

The car industry is bracing itself for the seasonal downturn and although SUV’s will continue to rise in price at the onset of winter, in general there will be fewer customers around. Car dealers therefore will need to sharpen their pencils if they want to tempt whatever potential buyers there are out there into parting with their cash. In other words, if it hasn’t already been all year, from now until Christmas the price just has to be right.

It never ceases to amaze me however that, for all the doom-mongery out there, there are dealers who are creative and prepared to at least try new ideas and lead their sales teams to succeed and despite the current market conditions there can be some real successes.

We heard of a group of Ford dealerships in Essex who had a 4 day sale and sold a staggering 400 cars. This just goes to show what can be done with a little bit of ‘Hollywood’, a positive attitude and the belief that, if there is choice and the deals are good, customers will come and they will buy.

You know it’s not generally difficult to spot a successful car dealership. From the moment you park up and see the display to being properly received and being greeted by nothing but energetic, enthusiastic, smiling people, it all rubs off and customers really do want to be there. If the staff are clearly happy to be working there then the atmosphere is much more conducive to a successful outcome for all parties.

Not Hollywood, pretty simple.
