Today, more and more women are writing different types of motorbikes or even scooters. In fact some analysts suggest that 20% of all new bike riders are females.
With more and more women riding bikes, there are also more women seeking insurance for those bikes. This provides a special situation for insurance companies to tailor policies for women. Generally as a rule women are less likely to be involved in accidents than men. This is true whether it’s a car or a motorbike. Given the decreased amount of risk women can obtain cheaper bike insurance policies than men.
Besides just being female, there are other ways that women can reduce the cost of their motorcycle insurance policies.
One of the best ways is to drive a bike that has a smaller engine. Those vehicles do not perform at a rate that correlates to a high risk of accidents. After all bikes that are able to obtain high speeds usually are more apt to be involved than an accident. Also bikes that have smaller engines are generally cheaper to repair.
Another thing the females to consider is how often they will be operating the bike. If the bike will not be accruing a great deal of mileage this factor can also help lower the premium. If the bike is driven less than most people do then their chance of being involved in an accident is less.
Having a safe place to store your bike can also reduce your insurance premiums. Motorbikes are fairly easy to steal which make them easy targets for theft. If you have a garage where the motorbike will be locked up overnight this can help reduce the cost of your premium. Other things that can help would be the presence of anti-theft devices as well as engine immobilizers which make motorbikes more difficult to steal.
