Which Type of Fleet Cars Have the Lowest Running Costs

Hybrid-Electric-Vehicles-for-Fleet-Markets1Environmental researchers have proven that automobile emissions cause increased air pollution. Since car emissions contribute to poor air quality, fleet managers have an opportunity to reduce the negative environmental impact of their company by purchasing cars that have low emission technology.

Purchasing a line of fleet cars is an expensive endeavour. However, fleet managers can control their expenses with fuel-efficient cars that have lower taxes. Furthermore, with proper maintenance, fleet cars may last longer, and have a higher resale value. Several of today’s cars feature some of the lowest running costs on the market. They include the Ford Fiesta, Volvo V60 and the Toyota Prius.

Ford Fiesta
Many fleet car managers select the Ford Fiesta at Bristol Street due to its solid reputation and model range. The vehicle’s CO2 emissions are low at 87 grams per mile driven. Fuel consumption is also beneficial because the car achieves 85.6 miles per gallon. The Fiesta contains an automatic start and stop feature along with a restyled injection system that the car’s more powerful engine regulates. It also has a Benefit In Kind, or BIK, rating of 13 according to the rates released for 2013 to 2014. Furthermore, the car features a smart regenerative charging system. With the advanced system in place, the alternator’s production increases when the driver applies the brakes or slows down. The car uses the increased output to recharge the battery later.

Volvo V60
Since Volvo cars tend to be in a higher price range, many fleet managers may avoid purchasing the car type for their company. However, if they do invest in the Volvo V60, then they will receive a lot of car for their money. Volvo built the car to perform remarkably well in the economy category. It also offers a luxurious ride. The Volvo’s combined fuel consumption is 155 miles per gallon, and its CO2 emissions are 48 grams per mile driven. Also, the engine is a hybrid of diesel and electric. With such high efficiency levels, the car is able to provide a low BIK rating of 8 for the 2013 to 2014 rates.

Toyota Prius
The Toyota Prius is renowned for its efficiency. Therefore, fleet owners will surely benefit by purchasing the vehicle model. The car provides exceptionally low CO2 emissions of 49 grams for every mile driven. In addition, the vehicle’s fuel consumption is 135 miles per gallon. In fact, the Prius has one of the lowest BIK rates at 5 for the 2013 to 2014 rates.

Reasons to Purchase a Fleet Car
When consumers begin looking at cars for sale at Bristol Street Motors, they may consider purchasing a fleet car as the vehicles are well maintained, and often, they are energy efficient, which will allow buyers to lower their fuel costs and help the planet.
