Why Is Ford’s F-Series The Most Popular Vehicle For The 43rd Year Running?

The Ford F-Series was the best selling vehicle in America in 2019 — a title that the ever-evolving pickup truck has owned for the past 43 years. Despite the series recently being part of a major recall, the F-Series can’t do anything wrong in the nation’s eyes. Time and time again, the F-Series’ features, including their affordability, reliability, and customization, continue to satisfy car owners in a way that other vehicles for sale in the country do not.

An affordable option

The cost of a new vehicle in America is steadily rising. The AAA reports that the average price of a new set of wheels has reached almost $40,000. In comparison, the F-Series range has a starting price of less than $30,000. The F-150, for example, has a base price of $28,495, which is far less than the average cost of a pickup truck which is $44,000, according to the Wall Street Journal. As recent research shows that 7 million vehicle owners are three months behind on their auto loan repayments, the low cost of the F-Series is appealing, as it reduces the risk of consumers falling behind on their repayments and makes it easier to afford in general.

Reliability factor

Despite owners complaining of heater issues and blown spark plugs, the F-Series is widely perceived as a reliable vehicle. Most auto reviewers rate vehicles in the F-Series as being ‘average’ or ‘above average’ for reliability. Assessing expert vehicle reviews prior to purchasing an F-Series is a recommended practice to ensure the vehicle model has ranked well in multiple test conditions. Car owners have found that varying generations of the F-Series rate slightly differently, so carrying out a proper comparison of as many as possible is worthwhile. Another benefit of the F-Series is that Ford gives a solid three-year/36,000-mile warranty on the likes of the F-150, proving that Ford has faith in the reliability of their vehicles, too.

Entirely customizable

One of the biggest complaints among motorists is that all vehicles look the same. The Ford F-Series has dealt with this problem in the form of the F-150. The color, engine, bed size, and cabin size are all customizable so you can tailor them to suit your needs and preferences. There are plenty of other options available to make your F-Series stand out from the crowd, too, including customizable wheels, heated seats, moon-roof, and running boards. With Americans spending almost 11 hours per week in their vehicles, the enhanced and customizable comfort options are something that are luring motorists in and encouraging them to choose an F-Series vehicle over any other.

The Ford F-Series has been the country’s most popular vehicle for decades, and it doesn’t look like Ford’s reign will end anytime soon. Thanks to the manufacturer’s solid reputation, reasonable pricing structure, and consumer-friendly modifications, motorists looking to purchase a new vehicle are sure to continue turning to the F-Series for years to come.
